"YCP EXTENDS IMPACTFUL HYGIENE CAMPAIGN TO COMMUNITY SECONDARY SCHOOL, OKPUNO"

The Young Catholic Professionals (YCP), St. Joseph Parish, UNIZIK Temporary Site, Awka, has successfully concluded the second phase of its "Pad a Girl Child & Improve Hygiene for Boy Child Initiative," a flagship project of the 2025/2026 Face (Queen) of YCP, Miss Orji Chinonso Immaculate.


The outreach, held at Community Secondary School, Okpuno, Awka South, brought together students, teachers, and YCP members in a meaningful engagement aimed at promoting personal hygiene, menstrual health awareness, and confidence among young people.


The YCP delegation received a warm welcome from the school's management led by the Academic Vice Principal, Lady Okonkwo Benedict, while the Senior Prefect, Mr. Atuegbu Kingsley, coordinated the students and facilitated the smooth conduct of the programme.


The event was professionally anchored by the Public Relations Officer of YCP, Dr. Gabriel Chy Alonta, whose moderation ensured an engaging and interactive atmosphere throughout the session.


Speaking during the programme, the Chairman of the Organising Committee, Engr. Chika Ngobili, delivered an inspiring lecture on "Personal Hygiene and Growing Up in Confidence," stressing that good hygiene, discipline, and self-esteem are indispensable virtues for every young person aspiring to succeed in life.


In another insightful presentation, Miss Aniche Ijeoma Cynthia educated the students on "Menstrual Health and Growing Up with Confidence." She enlightened the students on proper menstrual hygiene, dispelled common misconceptions, and encouraged girls to embrace womanhood with confidence and dignity.


One of the highlights of the outreach was the interactive question-and-answer session, where students enthusiastically sought clarification on several issues relating to hygiene, adolescence, and personal development. The speakers provided practical and comprehensive responses, leaving the students better informed and inspired.


Addressing the students, the YCP Queen, Miss Orji Chinonso Immaculate, encouraged them to remain disciplined, respect their teachers, and take advantage of every opportunity to learn and develop themselves, emphasizing that active participation is a pathway to excellence.


In his remarks, the President of YCP, Engr. Martin Emeka Ibenta, appreciated the management of Community Secondary School for their warm reception and partnership. He equally commended the students for their attentiveness and active participation, while expressing profound gratitude to the project committee and members of YCP whose dedication and teamwork ensured the success of the outreach.


Responding on behalf of the school, the Principal, Lady Osibe Eucharia, described the initiative as timely, impactful, and highly beneficial to the students. She applauded YCP for investing in the moral and personal development of young people and prayed for God's continued blessings, wisdom, and strength upon the organisation and its members.


The successful completion of the second phase of the "Pad a Girl Child & Improve Hygiene for Boy Child Initiative" further underscores the unwavering commitment of the Young Catholic Professionals to community service, youth empowerment, and the promotion of healthy living among the younger generation.
