"Federal Polytechnic Oko’s Christmas Carol Service Shines with Unity, Harmony, and Awards"

Federal Polytechnic Oko held its annual Christmas Carol Service at the Convocation Arena, a vibrant and spiritually uplifting ceremony that brought together students, staff, management, and distinguished guests. The venue was beautifully adorned in festive colors, creating a brilliant atmosphere that reflected the joy and significance of the season.
The program began with an opening prayer led by the Chaplaincy of St. Augustine, Dr. Umeojiakor John, followed by a lively session of praise and entertainment. A highlight was the traditional “Nine Lessons of Christmas Carols,” led by Rector Dr. Chioma Irene Awuzie and other dignitaries who took turns reading the lessons.
In her address, Dr. Awuzie commended the planning committee, management, and governing bodies for their dedication in organizing a successful service. She announced the approval of the 2026 appraisal and promotion exercise, set to commence on January 1, and disclosed that solar panels have been installed for the Mass Communication radio broadcast station to ensure uninterrupted operation. She also noted that medical equipment for the Ufuma Medical Centre has been procured and will soon be installed, reinforcing the institution’s commitment to staff and student welfare.
Dr. Awuzie concluded by urging the polytechnic community to uphold peace, unity, and harmony throughout the festive season and beyond. The ceremony featured melodious choir renditions of Christmas hymns and the presentation of awards to deserving staff, including Most Delightful Staff, Most Friendly Female Staff, and Most Hardworking Staff, with recipients receiving gifts.
Among the distinguished guests were former Acting Rector Dr. Chukwujekwu Ubaka, ASUP Chairman Prof. Ibizim, Barrister F. M. Oduah, Mr. Charles Okonkwo, Dr. Joseph Obi, Deputy Rector (Administration) Dr. Faguson, Deputy Rector (Academic) Dr. Nkiruka Akabuike, members of the Governing Council, and other principal officers.
Participants described the event as “awesome” and “more than beautiful,” noting that it heightened spiritual alertness across the campus. Former Dean of the School of Information Technology, Dr. Onyeka Uwakwe, praised the 2025 Christmas carol as “eventful and unique.”
