"NRI CELEBRATES 1027TH IGU ARO FESTIVAL WITH GRAND CEREMONIES"

Nri, the ancestral home of Igboland, has marked its 1027th Igu Aro festival in grand style, drawing crowds from various creeds. The festival, which signifies the beginning of the Igbo lunar calendar, took place at the Eze Nri palace, with Regent Prince Ikenna Onyesoh highlighting its importance in Igboland. 


In his address, Prince Onyesoh welcomed everyone and noted that it's the 38th year of Eze Nri's anniversary on the throne. He emphasized that Igu Aro is an annual event, with Nri performing ilo mmuo to appease the land, and that Igbo nation regards Nri as their cultural centre.


The Regent warned attendees to be cautious of impostors claiming to represent Igu Aro, stating that only Nri does the Igu Aro. He appreciated Governor Soludo and Senator Uche Ekwunife for their contributions to Nri's development.


The festival featured the coronation of High Chief Anyakora, Okofia na Abagana, as Ezeoranyeruofor Ndi Igbo, showcasing Nri's rich cultural heritage.
