Dunukofia, Anambra State - In a highly anticipated move, former member representing Dunukofia constituency in the Anambra State House of Assembly, Hon. Lawrence Ezeudu, has defected to the African Democratic Congress (ADC). Ezeudu, who was previously with the All Progressives Congress (APC), described today as his "Pentecost Day", saying it's the first time in politics he sees reason to join a political party.
"I see today as my Pentecost Day, the first time in politics I see reason to join a political party. Leadership is all about accountability, we are desperate to fix this country. A new Nigeria is possible," Ezeudu declared.
Ezeudu praised the impact of Peter Obi, the Labour Party presidential candidate in the 2023 general elections, and promised to work with him for a new Nigeria. "Today is one of my happiest days in life," he said.
ADC state chairman, Hon. Patrick Obiano, welcomed Ezeudu to the party, describing him as a "one man squad" and praising Peter Obi as a "goal getter". Obiano expressed confidence that ADC is well-prepared for the 2027 general elections.
Prof. Chinyere Okunna, representing the women wing of ADC, welcomed Ezeudu to the party, urging the masses to stand with him. "He is a good man," she said.
Dr. Francis Asokwu, also welcomed Ezeudu, saying, "Today is a great day, and ADC will do great in the next election."
Ezeudu's defection was accompanied by many stakeholders from different parties, who joined him at his residence, drawing a massive crowd.
The ADC is positioning itself as a major opposition force, with prominent figures like Peter Obi and Atiku Abubakar associated with the party.
