Chief Mrs Linda Nkechinyere Onyesoh, a distinguished businesswoman, mentor and wife of Regent Ikenna Onyesoh of the Nri Kingdom, was formally inducted into the prestigious Otu Odu society on 26 December 2025 at the Palace of Eze Nri. The ceremony, steeped in the rich traditions of the Nri people, drew dignitaries, clergy, and community leaders from across Igbo‑land and beyond, all gathering to celebrate her elevation as Iyom (Mother) of the Otu Odu, a revered title symbolizing matriarchal leadership and cultural stewardship.
In her remarks, Chief Linda Onyesoh described Nri as “the oldest kingdom, the ancestral home of Igboland,” emphasizing that the town is “sweet, filled with joy and peace of mind.” She urged the people of Ndi Nri to “embrace peace and love,” stressing that harmony is the cornerstone of communal progress. Reflecting on her two‑decade journey in Nri, she warned against being swayed by discord, noting that stability and unity are essential for the kingdom’s continued relevance.
Chief Onyesoh publicly thanked her husband, Regent Ikenna Onyesoh, calling him “the best husband so far” and acknowledging his unwavering support as both her business partner and mentor. She highlighted his pivotal role in the success of the induction ceremony, which she described as a seamless blend of tradition and modernity.
The event also highlighted the broader significance of the Otu Odu society, known for preserving Igbo cultural heritage, promoting matriarchal influence, and advising traditional governance structures . The induction is expected to strengthen the bonds between Nri’s royal institutions and the wider Igbo community, reinforcing Nri’s historic status as a cultural epicenter.
